Eight outdoor courts sit inside R. Kenneth Baldwin Country Park, a 30-acre West Haven park at 3300 South and 2825 West that the city renamed in 2021 for an early leader who spent years turning salt flats and wetlands into ball fields. The pickleball block shares the grounds with sand volleyball, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, a playground, a rodeo arena, and a paved path. Reviewers call the courts clean, well maintained, and in great shape, with one regular noting it is one of the better places in the area to play. Eight courts mean a group can usually find an open one.
Eight outdoor courts, free to play, with lights you can switch on manually after dark and reportedly run until about 10 pm. Plenty of close parking and multiple lots inside the park. Courts start filling between 4:30 and 5 pm and are crowded most evenings, so mornings and midday are easier. Friday nights draw teens to the area. Benches sit courtside for waiting or storing gear. Shade is limited and there is no water fountain on site, so bring your own. Sand volleyball sits right next to the courts.
