Pickleball here is an indoor, seasonal affair tucked into a busy county recreation center. The city's Parks and Recreation department lines its basketball gymnasium for 3 pickleball courts, open for drop-in from October 1 through April 30 and dark the rest of the year. This is a full-service rec center first, with indoor and outdoor pools, an ice arena, a weight room, racquetball, and fitness classes, so the pickleball runs alongside heavy traffic from swimmers and skaters. Players bring and break down their own nets. For warm-weather play, the city points people to six outdoor courts at Butler Park, just west of the building.
Three indoor courts share the basketball gym, available drop-in October 1 through April 30 only, with no indoor times May 1 through September 30. Fees run $7 for adults 18 to 61, $6 for seniors 62 and up, $6 for youth, and free for CHRC members. A membership or daily fee is required to play indoors. Patrons set up and take down the nets themselves. Listed drop-in windows include Tuesdays 11am to 2pm and Wednesdays and Fridays 8:30am to noon. The center sits at 7500 S 2700 E with on-site parking.
What locals say
“It’s a county rec center. Lots of swimming here indoor and outdoor. Ice rink, racquet ball, basketball, very small weight room, very small cardio room, pickle ball.”
