Eight dedicated pickleball courts sit inside Riverton City Park at 1452 W 12600 S, and they are the busiest corner of the grounds. The city added four courts to the original four, and the result is a public facility that runs from early morning to 10 p.m. Courts are fenced with wind guards on the fencing, a real consideration on the south end of the valley where wind is a regular complaint. Tuesday and Thursday evenings belong to the adult ladder leagues, which can tie up courts and frustrate drop-in players. Outside league hours, play is free and first-come, and the surrounding park adds playgrounds, grass, tennis, and beach volleyball.
Eight outdoor courts, open to the public when not booked for lessons or leagues. Lights activate via a button on the light pole, available 6 a.m. to sunrise and sunset to 10 p.m., April through September. Free, first-come play. Adult ladder leagues run Tuesday and Thursday evenings ($25 per session, Intro through 4.0+), so expect those courts occupied then. Nets come down in winter, so confirm before an off-season trip. Four courts can be reserved in person at City Hall, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., for $200, at least two weeks ahead. Reviews note plenty of parking.
What locals say
“Great pickleball courts. The courts are well fenced, so you're not always chasing the ball. They also have wind guards on the fencing to help with wind affecting your ball. They take the nets down in the winter, so check before you go if you're playing in the off-season.”
“The Riverton pickleball courts are great! Can definitely be super crowded but everywhere is. :)”
“Otherwise great courts, but quite annoying how many courts are taken up on Tuesdays and Thursdays by the pickleball league.”
“This park has a GREAT selection of activity features, including a fun pickleball court (4 courts in total). I'm new to the sport, but the pickleball courts here make me want to play on a regular basis.”
