Hillcrest Park is Orem's recently-renovated east-bench community park, with something for nearly every age and activity. Pickleball courts share the property with a splash pad, multiple playgrounds with sensory and climbing features, ping pong tables, 9-square-in-the-air, an open grass field, baseball, a walking trail, and an indoor recreation building (Hillcrest Center) that can be reserved. The new build dates to the past few years and feels modern. Reviewers consistently praise cleanliness and the breadth of amenities; the few complaints are about wood-chip ground cover near baby play areas and persistent puddles in the grass.
Practical notes
Park hours are 5 AM to 11 PM daily. The pickleball courts are lighted until 10:30 PM and must be reserved through Orem Recreation online, which reviewers describe as either easy or a hassle depending on perspective. Restrooms are not always open on Sundays, which has frustrated some families with young kids. The Hillcrest Center building has an indoor gym available only by reservation. There is one drinking fountain near the pickleball courts. Mature shade is still developing; covered seating helps, but mornings and evenings are most pleasant in summer.
What locals say
"Pickle ball, table tennis, 9 square in the air, splash pad, many climbing structures, slide, grass, swings and SHADE! This park appears to be a hidden gem."
"PSA: the lights on the pickleball courts turn off at 10:30 pm. There's no tennis courts"
"Great park with lots of pickleball courts but some people pay to reserve them so it's hard to tell when a court is available"
