Canyon Rim Park runs one of the larger public pickleball setups in the Salt Lake valley: ten outdoor courts on the north side of the park, rebuilt and reopened in fall 2024 after the old courts were torn out. Millcreek City funded the roughly $1.2 million project and opened the complex free to the public. Two of the ten are larger championship courts for more competitive play. The rest of the park is a well-kept neighborhood space with playgrounds, open grass, and summer events, so the courts sit next to families and picnics rather than off on their own.
Ten free outdoor courts, dedicated with permanent lines and nets, two of them larger championship courts. Play is drop-in and first-come, first-served; reservations are not allowed, including for lessons or private parties. The city posts group rules: play is limited to one hour or 11 points, groups announce "OPEN COURT" when leaving, and incoming groups get five minutes to warm up. Reach the courts from the west entrance on 2900 East, where designated pickleball parking spaces are marked. Restrooms and water are on site.
What locals say
“This park has had the ultimate pickleball court makeover! I played here a time or two, but the courts were old and falling apart. Last fall, they shut em down and just reopened! Wow! Is there pickleball in heaven? Yup.”
